1.My first tool is Photoshop. I’m quite familiar with this. Drawing a 2D self portrait based on my selfie is quite simple. I have full control of the shape and color style through pixel by pixel. But it’s not a 3D avatar, I can just see my front face, and it’s hard to add movement to it.
2. For the second one, I tried Blender. I never learnt this before. By following this tutorial, I spent 5 hours just created this skeleton for my head, and without hair. This tool is too hard to use. It takes time. Every control point needs to be accurate. But the advantage is that the result could look like real people. Most importantly, it’s easy to attach movement on the body. Blender includes production ready camera and object tracking. Now it is being used for numerous short films, advertisements, TV series and feature films. I like this tool, I think this is the one I need for future project.
